A useful remodeling field record answers what happened, where, when, who observed it, what evidence exists, and what action or decision follows. Photos without that context are not a daily log.
Minimum field record
- Project, date, location or room, and author
- Work completed and work blocked
- Crew and subcontractors present
- Photos or files tied to the observation
- Client, inspector, safety, quality, delivery, or weather issue
- Named follow-up owner and due state
Where the record must connect
A discovered condition may become a task, selection question, change request, schedule constraint, or warranty record. Software should preserve the original observation while linking the later decision rather than copying a description into disconnected tools.
